Missions/Activités

L’Institut Pasteur de Bangui (IPB) est une fondation à but non lucratif étroitement liée au gouvernement de la République centrafricaine depuis sa création en 1961. Ses activités sont axées sur les services à la population (biologie médicale, vaccination), la recherche, la santé publique et la formation. Les projets de recherche et les activités des laboratoires nationaux de référence concernent les grands problèmes de santé publique que sont les maladies émergentes telles que la rage, la poliomyélite, la rougeole, la tuberculose, le paludisme, le VIH, l’hépatite COVID-19, le virus Zika, la dengue, le Mpox et le cancer du col de l’utérus. L’IPB dispose d’une plateforme technique de haute qualité (virologie, bactériologie, parasitologie, biologie cellulaire, biologie moléculaire, y compris le séquençage génomique…) et peut s’appuyer sur plus de 166 membres du personnel et prestataires de services formés et compétents. En ce qui concerne la formation, l’IPB dirige le renforcement des capacités du personnel de laboratoire en partenariat avec l’Université de Bangui. L’IPB est conçu pour fonctionner comme un catalyseur sans précédent pour l’accès au diagnostic, à la surveillance et à l’innovation scientifique dans la région de l’Afrique centrale, avec le potentiel d’apporter des services de santé de qualité à des millions de personnes en RCA, en ne laissant personne de côté.
