Phagocytose chez les bactéries aquatiques !
Des chercheurs japonais ont montré qu’une bactérie de la famille des planctomycètes, Candidatus Uab amorphum, est capable « d’engloutir » d’autres bactéries et des petites cellules eucaryotes par un mécanisme de type phagocytose. La séquence génomique de Candidatus Uab amorphum ne révèle aucun gène homologue aux gènes de phagocytose eucaryote, à l’exception peut-être d’un gène codant une protéine de type actine. La découverte de cette bactérie « phagotrophique » démontre encore une fois la grande complexité cellulaire des procaryotes.
